TAG: Confessions of a beauty blogger

So I was scrolling through one of my favourite blogs and came across this tag. Life has been so hectic lately so I haven't really had time to do any blog posts so hopefully for now this will do and during Christmas I will be able to get some more beauty posts up!

1. How many hours a week do you spend writing / editing posts?
It depends on what I'm doing, if I'm on a break from college then I try and do a few posts during the week and then schedule them to come up during the month. If I'm at college then sadly not many posts get written!

2. Are you a spender or saver?
Hmm, Now I would like to think I'm a saver but in reality I really think I'm a spender! I try my best to save money but it always seems lately at the end of the month I'm left with no money!

3. When is it easier for you to blog?
When I have lots of free time, I hate trying to rush a blog post. I like to blog mainly when I have days of from college and work.

4. What makes writing behind a computer comfortable for you?
Not too sure how to take this question but for me I have to be in comfy clothing so some jogging bottoms and in a comfortable chair or my bed.

5. What is your worst make up / hair habit?
I know everyone will moan at me but I have been so bad for forgetting to take my makeup off lately! I know it's awful but I just can't seem to remember/ have the effort. For hair I would say I often forget to use heat protection, Eeek!

6. What is one quote you wish the world lived by?
"Treat others how you wish to be treated" This is a quote that I try and live my life by..

7. How long do you spend getting ready every day?
If I'm just going out to town or work then probably about 30 minutes, If I'm going to a party I like to leave myself an hour. I love pondering around doing nothing when I'm getting ready! haha

8. Who's your favourite blogger?

Ooo there are far to many to name! To name a couple I love essiebutton and sineaddreamingagain.

9. Who is a blogger that you think deserves more subscribers than they have?
I really thing Couturegirl so should have some many more followers then she does, her blog posts are fantastic!

10. What is one thing you are excited about in the upcoming year?
Finishing my college course and hopefully getting into the beauty world!

11. What is you most awkward blogging moment?
Erm, I can't say i really have any, well not that I can remember. One thing I hate is when I spell something wrong in a blog post!

12. How long does it take you to prepare a post?
If I'm taking pictures and trying to be fancy with my writing then probably about half a day, If I'm writing a tag then about 30 minutes to an hour.

13. Are you wearing trousers right now or jogging pants / PJ bottoms?
I am currently wearing the most comfiest jogging bottoms from matalan!

14. What are you most proud of in life?
To some it may seem like nothing, but at the start of last year I was doing my A-levels. About a month in I realised I had been pushed into doing them by teachers and that I really hated what I was doing. So I rang up a college I had applied to and asked if they had any places left and luckily they did, I had to join a class of about 20 girls who had already got to know each other, I was so scared! I'm so glad I did it though, in case any of you are wondering I took beauty therapy in college.

I tag: ALL OF YOU!
I found this blog post on DreamingAgain.

Thank you so much for reading!

October favourties 2013!

This month I have been loving using these 3 haircare products. These are the toni&guy reconstructive shampoo, conditioner and mask. Since day one of using these products I have noticed a massive difference in how my hair looks, they make my hair so shiny and super soft. My favourite from the bunch has to the mask, this has been really helping keep my dry ends in good order. I will be defitnley repurchasing this at one point but first I want to try some bits from Tigi!

This has been a favourite of mine for a long time but this month I have been on top of my skincare and remembering to use this everyday! This is the Avene extremely gentle cleanser. It is a tissue of formula so no need to use water on the face which is great for people who have sensitive skin! I use this every morning and it helps to settle my sensitive skin and make sure my skin is lovely and clean prior to makeup application. I still use my clinique TTDO cleansing balm at night.

I haven't been using too much makeup this month so this is the only bit I have consistently. I wont go on too much as I have recently done a post on this. But in a nutshell it is a buttery, glossy lipstick that I have been using everyday. It is in the shade Berry smoothie and is a medium pinky berry tone, gorgeous!

Revlon lip butter: Berry smoothie review!

When I was in boots the other day I saw that the revlon lip butters had £2 off, Berry smoothie is a shade I have been wanting for quite some time now but never got round to purchasing it. With the discount I couldn't say no and in my basket it went. I'm so glad I picked it up as it has become a staple in my every day makeup ever since. The lipsticks come in plastic packaging and each shade is the same on the lipstick as it is on the packaging, which I've always thought was pretty cool! Lip butters are so smooth and creamy and have fantastic pigmentation. The colour I picked up is berry smoothie which is a gorgeous rasberry pink shade, it is such a lovely neutral colour but adds some colour to my lips. One thing I really like about revlon lip butters is that the color can be built up, apply one swipe for a wash off colour or build up for a more intense shade.

Top- one swipe
Bottom- several swipes

Do you own any lip butters? Which one is your favourite?

Clinique take the day off cleansing balm review!

Today I'm going to be talking a product that almost every beauty blogger owns. This is Clinique's version of a cleansing balm and works wonderfully. If you've never heard of a cleansing balm before they are hard, like lard texture but once they come into contact with skin they melt into an oil. Unlike other cleansing balms Clinique's is 100% fragrance free, so great for us sensitive skin girls (and guys)! I had never tried a cleansing balm before this but I am well and truly hooked now! They feel so relaxing at night time massaging the product into the skin and the product really dissolves all the makeup away, even waterproof mascara! My skin feels so clean afterwards but it doesn't feel like it's been stripped off any oils! Clinique's TTDO cleansing balm will cost you £21 which is quite a bit for a cleanser but it isn't the most expensive out there and really is worth the price! I highly recommend this product is you're on the lookout for a cleansing balm and also if you have sensitive skin!

Have any of you tried this cleansing balm? Or any others?

I went shopping: Dorothy Perkins, Primark, Boots & More!

Hello everyone, I hope you're all well! Sorry I haven't blogged for a while, I've been so busy with work and also college I've barley had time to think! Today I am going to show you a few bits I brought when I went shopping recently.

The first shop I went to was Dorothy Perkins. My Dorothy Perkins is located in a BHS which is where I work, a majority of the time when BHS have sales so will Dorothy Perkins. They had some really great deals with lots of things having 20-30% off their price tag, I also managed to use my staff discount which meant I got some really good bargains!

When you love a dress why not get it in both colours? I love how versatile these dresses are, they can be dressed with heels or throw on some tights and boots and your set to go on a winters day! These are £19 originally but at the time had 30% off so they were about £13 each.

The weathers starting to get a little colder so I thought it was about time I started to get some more jumpers. I don't normally like glitzy things but I absolutly adore the gems on this jumper, This was originally £20 but had 10% off so was £18. How cute are the little cat whiskers on the other jumper I got? I fell in love with this jumper as soon as I saw it! This was oringally £22 but had 20% so was around £17.

These wedges were in the sale for £15 and I just couldn't resist! They aren't too high and are so comfy, I can't wait to wear these on an night out!

I then wen't into Miss Selfridge and got just a couple of simple tops, They were £8 each or 2 for £12. I only have one to show as the other is in the wash! I got one in a forest green colour and the other in a mid blue colour. These are great just to wear with leggings!

I went to primark and got some knickers and these tights. These are the super cosy tights and they really are so comfy! They have a fleece lining which makes them so warm, I love wearing these in the winter!

Lastly I went to boots and got a couple of beauty products.

I got a Revlon lip butter in the shade Berry Smoothie and Sugar crush scrub by soap and glory. The scrub smells so heavenly, to me it smells really limey but with a hint of vanilla thrown in there!

Rimmel Apocalips: New shades ( With lip swatches)

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well!

A couple of weeks ago I browsing the counters in boots and was looking at the rimmel stand when I noticed there were new shades in the Apocalips collection! I think there was about 5-6 different shades but I only picked up two as they were the ones that stood out to me the most.

The two shades I picked up were Eclipse and Across the universe.

Across the universe is a deep red with blue undertones. It is much deeper then what it looks like in the photo but I had a difficult time getting the colour to come across on camera! Much darker then the other red in the collection called big bang which is a true pillar box red.

Eclipse is a deep purple plum colour. I have been wearing this so much lately and I know I will get so much use out of it when it starts to get a bit colder. In the tube it looks like a really scary dark colour but on the lips it just turns into a perfect winter colour.

Here I have blotted my lips as this is a way I love to wear this product as it's berry tones really start to come through when the shine has gone.

I am so glad I purchased these two colours, they are just like the other apocalips, they last for a really long time and are beautiful colours!

I'm really not photogenic!

Today I'm wearing No7 stay perfect foundation in the shade calico with rimmel's stay matter pressed powder over the top and MUA's bittersweet cream blush on my cheeks. On my eyes I have a NYX jumbo eye pencil in the shade french fries, L'oreal telescopic mascara and collection 2000 liquid eyeliner. I was tagged by the lovely Sinead to do this, it looked like fun so I thought why not give it a go! You can find her original post here.

THE RULES
1. You must share the following firsts and give the story or context behind them.
2. You must tag 10 other bloggers to do the tag.
3. No tag backs.

First best friend-
My first proper best friend was in year 7 and her name was Emily, She was in my tutor and I thought she was really cool so I decided from that point on wards she was going to be my friend whether she liked it or not haha. Unfortunately we aren't friends anymore as we grew apart.

First kiss-
My first kiss was actually when I was 15 and it was with the person I'm with today!

First concert-
My first and only concert I've ever been to was You Me At Six, my sister, her friend and her friends sister were going so my sister asked if I wanted to come as well as I knew the girls. I really enjoyed that concert and there are so many I want to go to but by the time I find out the concert is happening the tickets have all
sold out!

First celebrity crush-
I used to love Leonardo Dicaprio and Orlando Bloom. When I was younger I used to cry every time Jack died in titanic, I actually used to think he was dead in real life haha!

First word-
My parent's can't really remember what my first word was but my mum thinks it was either mum or milk.

First pet-
Me and my sister used to have sea monkey's! Not too sure if this counts as a pet but oh well! We were so bad at looking after them, they would hatch eggs and then all die within a day!

First Job-
My first job was working in a factory sorting the mail, not the most exciting job but I still got paid!

First phone-
I can't remember the exact name of my phone but it was a Sagem and it was a pink flip phone with butterflies on it, I loved it so much at the time!

First tweet-
So I thought it was going to be some embarrassing tweet but all it is, is about formspring which I don't even have anymore!
'Ask me anything :) http://formspring.me/georgina1lauder'

First make up-
From what I can remember my first makeup item was a barry M little glitter pot in the shade 15 which was a bright blue/green colour. I thought I could make it work, turns out half of it just used to fall on my floor!

Thank you to sinead for tagging me in this, I had lots of fun writing it!

July favourites 2013!

This month I have really gotten into creams, before I was really bad and rarely mosturised unless it was certain patches of my eczema. I finally used up my mango butter ans brought this one when it was on offer! I love the body shop butters they are so moisturising and smell amazing! This one smells just like the fruit! Lush's cuticle butter is a thick cream that puts moisture back into the nail. I find this stuff really helps strengthen my nails and make them grow!

I brought the balmi lip balm for holiday as it has spf in it and ive been using it non stop, it conditions my lips and give a gorgeous shiny effect making my lips look fuller, it also smells amazing too! Mac's all that glitters eyeshadow has been my go to colour this month, its a beautiful peachy gold colour. I love using my naked basics palette with this eyeshadow and just blending a darker colour into the crease and then using the matte black as eyeliner.

What I'm wearing on my face! #2

It's been so hot in England lately so I've been sporting the minimal makeup look! In this photo I'm wearing Illamasqua skin base foundation in 6 which I have been absolutely loving lately, natural collection pink cloud blush, mac's all that glitters eyeshadow lightly dusted over the lid, l'oreal telescopic mascara and a little bit of lip balm. When I said I hadn't been wearing a lot I meant it, this has been my go to look pretty much most days. I can't stand wearing loads of makeup and it sweating off my face, lovely image for you there! My hair is second day curls, I've been wearing it pretty messy lately or if it's to hot I'll just shove it up into a ponytail! I feel like I haven't spoken to all you in ages, hope everyone is well! Also don't forgot that I have a giveaway going on at the moment for one of you to win a revlon lip stain!

Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette Review!

Hello Everyone!

(L-R) Venus, Foxy, W.O.S, Naked 2, Faint, Crave.

As you would have seen in my most recent post my best friend brought me the naked 2 palette, as she is such a lovely friend she brought me the basics palette too! The colours in the palette are all matte except Venus which has a slight shimmer in it. With these six shades you can do pretty much anything! As you can see the pigmentation isn't great on Foxy and W.O.S but they are really nice highlight colours and also great blending colours! That's the main thing I love about this palette, for days I don't want shimmer I will turn to this or if I want to blend out my colours I will use this. It is such a handy product to have and takes up hardly anything room! I cannot recommend this palette enough.

Have any of you tried this or the other palettes?

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush Review!

After hearing so many people rave about this brush I wanted to see what all the hype was about! After using this brush I can see why everyone loves it so much. This brush is like a traditional foundation brush mixed with a buffing brush, it apply's your foundation so beautifully and the best bit about this brush is that it doesn't soak up the foundation so you aren't wasting any. This brush gives you a really natural finish and I can imagine cause of it's shape it would be really good for contouring with cream bronzer. I'm so pleased with this brush and just like the other one am really glad I added it to my collection!
